Does your carrier have the right Insurance in place for your business requirements?

We have been visiting a few new clients recently and one who mentioned their current delivery partner didn’t have the right insurance in place to suit their needs!
This specific client has been working with the transport company for several months now but were not aware that they were only covered by basic cargo insurance, this is normally based on total weight of the items being carried and worked out to around 40 pence per kilo!
The reseller in question wasn’t aware of this oversight until an incident occurred and one of their devices was unfortunately damaged, the transport company paid out roughly £60 for the damaged equipment due to the type of insurance cover they had in place which wasn’t ideal.
Obviously, the amount the reseller received didn’t come close to the cost of a replacement device so this is a good example of why it’s imperative you check what you are covered for when transporting your equipment with a third party, especially if you are utilising a non-specialist transport company!
We are aware that transport companies will increase the level of insurance to your desired level, providing you have requested them to do so however this is often reflected in the price of the job which we are being told is just not sustainable hence the reason many resellers across the UK choose to partner with Tecserv as their Photocopier Handling Specialists!
