Does Buying New Really Mean Better?

Does Buying New Really Mean Better?
Dean Chisholm on 12th March 2021

When it comes to replacing pieces of technology in the workplace it normally results in the purchase of a new piece of equipment. Owning the latest model of laptop or phone can provide your organisation with access to the latest software and systems that may make your life easier as your business develops.

You may have the same outlook if you’re in the market for a replacement copier for your business. However, here at Tecserv, we believe that older models stand the test of time and are normally the better option for many companies looking to make substantial savings on their printing equipment.

When buying new items of technology, we’re led to believe that there will be no problems with the object and that because it is new, it is also flawless.

This, however, is not always the case, and when it comes to copiers, new does not necessarily mean it’s a better product than its predecessor.

One common issue with brand new copiers is that they are using brand new technology and systems. Whilst this may seem like a positive, the reality is that these machines are not as well tested as older machines. Consequently, if a problem occurs with them, it may be difficult to fix as the issue may currently be unknown which could result in unexpected downtime which may then have a negative impact on your operation.

Buying a well-established copier may be good for your business in the long run, as you can gauge its longevity, and see for yourself how reliable they are. If problems do occur with these machines, then they are usually cheaper to fix as the tech has been out for a while and is more accessible.

In addition, the issues that may arise are usually easy to deal with, as there is a lot more industry knowledge surrounding the products and how to fix them.
